SUR CETTE OEUVRE: MAJESTIC PINE ISLAND: CAPTURING SYLVAN LAKES BEAUTY
On a recent adventure we found ourselves hiking around the stunning Sylvan Lake in Custer South Dakota on a bright but overcast day. Despite the cloud cover the beauty of the landscape shone through making it one of my favorite stops on our travels. As we meandered along the trail I couldnt help but marvel at the photographic opportunities that presented themselves at every turn. Each corner revealed a new vista to capture and cherish. One particularly memorable scene caught my eye—a small rock island nestled in the lakes tranquil waters adorned with two majestic pine trees. The simplicity and serenity of the scene drew me in and I knew I had to capture it with my camera. Opting for black-and-white infrared photography I aimed to immortalize the timeless beauty of the landscape. As I snapped the photo I couldnt help but notice a faint haze in the sky a reminder of the distant wildfires raging in Canada. Despite the haze the image perfectly captured Sylvan Lakes essence—the pristine waters the rugged shoreline and the towering pine trees standing tall against the horizon. As we continued our hike I carried the memory of that serene moment with me grateful for the opportunity to explore such a breathtaking destination and capture its beauty through my lens.
