ABOUT THIS ARTWORK: SUMMER ADVENTURES AT BROOMS ISLAND MARINA: COLORFUL BEACH STORM
Once upon a time, my wife and I, with our Pup Cooper, spent the summer at a place called Brooms Island Marina in Maryland. I was working there, and we stayed only a few feet from the river and could see the Chesapeake from our front door. We were so close to the water, where boats parked, and the air smelled like a salty sea breeze. It was so exciting! But guess what? We faced lots of stormy days during our stay. One day, as we looked out from the marina, we saw dark clouds gathering in the sky. It looked like a scene from a movie! The air felt heavy, and the wind started to blow stronger and stronger. We knew a storm was coming. But you know what was really cool? We had a special camera that could uniquely capture the stormy weather. It was called Infrared Chrome. With this camera, the sky looked even more dramatic, with shades of red and hints of bright foliage along the beach. It was like stepping into a different world! Even though the storm looked fierce, we felt safe at the marina. The boats were tied up securely, and the marina staff ensured everyone was prepared for bad weather. We watched the storm from a safe distance, marveling at the power of nature. After the storm passed, we went out to explore the marina again. Everything looked fresh and clean, and the air smelled better. We learned that even though storms can be scary, they can also be beautiful in their own way. Our summer at Brooms Island Marina was full of adventures, from sunny days on the water to exciting stormy evenings. We met many amazing people and it was a summer we will never forget!
